Torre Canne, a hamlet 8km from the town of Fasano in the province of Brindisi, is a beach resort on the Adriatic shore and part of the Parco Naturale Dune Costiere da Torre Canne a Torre San Leonardo.
Its symbol is the lighthouse, a 35m high octagonal tower built in 1927 which lights up the coast. Torre Canne is famous for its white powder soft sand and for the thermal waters that have been used for therapeutic purposes since the 1800s.
Its name derives from a 16th century guard tower that stood close to a dense cane plantation, fed by the numerous streams falling from the hill to the area, protecting the coast from Saracen invasion, which was destroyed during World War II.
