Enchanting Gravina in Puglia extends along the edge of a gorges in Eastern Muglia in an area riven with ravines and hollows, just over 10km from Altamura and less than 50km from Andria and Bari.
Standing on the border between Apulia and Basilicata, Gravina is part of the Alta Murgia National Park. The landscape, characterised by the whims of stone, includes the archaeological sites of Collina Petramagna and Padre Eterno which contain a vast array of ceramics, ruined temples and the walls and floors of ancient dwellings.
Outside the residential centre, the remains of the Swabian Castle perch on a promontory, appearing to balance on the hilltop, close to the Church of Our Lady of Graces and the Basilica Cattedrale which stands on the edge of a crevice with an incredible view of the gorge.
