A late 19th century Austro-Hungarian military fortress, fort Colle delle Benne is located near Ronchi del Col de le Bène in the municipality of Levico Terme (Trento). The fort was part of the Tenna Barrier (Subrayon III) in the vast fortifications Austria built on the border with Italy.
Located on the hill of San Biagio (where it gets one of its names) at an altitude of 660m, it dominates the northern side of lake Levico below and part of upper Valsugana.
The fort has a polygonal layout and its north face is buttressed with an armoured outer building. A line of trenches, served by a mule track, climbed the impervious mountain rib to Busa Granda.
On the other side of the valley, a twin fort, fort Tenna, stands on the southern side of the Lake. The fortified structure covers 20,765 sqm which fall in the municipalities of Levico and Pergine. The fort alone occupies 240 sqm.
