Corigliano Calabro (province of Cosenza) is located more than 200m above sea level on the northern slopes of the Sila National Park, on a small hill surrounded by green olive and colourful citrus groves.
The historical centre comprises alleys, rural residences and ancient places of worship. Main places of interest include the Ducal Castle and the Castle of San Mauro. Main places of worship include: the Church of St. Mary Major with a finely decorated Baroque façade and a single nave with side chapels; and the Baroque Church of St. Anthony with a large yellow and blue tiled dome and six smaller domes.
Following a referendum, the municipalities of Corigliano Calabro and Rossano were merged in 2018; the new municipality, which took the name Corigliano-Rossano, is the largest in the entire region.
Given its favourable climatic conditions, the area is specialized in growing orange and clementine fruits and producing olive oil and wine.
