Piazza Unità d'Italia in Novellara (Reggio Emilia) is a large rectangular space, bordered by Renaissance porticoes and closed to the west by the imposing architecture of the parish church, the Collegiate Church of Santo Stefano. It is the heart of the town, dotted with historic shops and the location for festivals and markets. The colourful decoration on the facades evokes the original project by Lelio Orsi; the central flowerbeds, out of keeping with the 16th century appearance of the complex, are contemporary to the Monument to the Fallen by Giuseppe Graziosi (1925).
