The Jazzo Scoparella, or del Demonio, is a stunning example of rural architecture typical of the Murge area. Located on a sloping hillside in order to avoid the accumulation of animal excreta and rain, it features a shelter for goats and sheep, divided by dry stone walls which have the jutting stones pitched outwards as protection against wolves (paralupi), characteristic of the area. The area is studded with large downy oak trees and an imposing stone bridge crosses the main channel of the Apulian Aqueduct. Close by, a stone open air structure (mungituro) served for the milking and shearing of animals. The oval structure has a central rectangular area in the midst of two semi-circular paddocks. The herd was gathered in the upper paddock, then ushered through two passages, a few at a time, towards the central space where they were milked or sheared. Once that operation was completed, they were sent off towards the lower paddock through various passages.
