The area is characterised by the undulations of Karst territory, owing to the presence of depressions and hollows amongst the low, rounded humps. North of the farmhouse (masseria) are rocky limestone clearings, used as natural paddocks, edged with replanted pine trees. The Jazzo Pietre Tagliate is an outstanding example of rural architecture, with farmhouses, perimeter walls, walls with protection against wolfs and the open-air, stone milking area (mungituro). The reforesting, which provides shade during the hottest of summer days, punctuates the Murgia paddocks and offers shelter to numerous wild animals.
