Masseria Tagliente is located in the hills of Murge in a woodland of oaks and Mediterranean scrub. The buildings are made up of the manor house and the trulli complex.
The manor house, with the adjacent chapel, is the most monumental of the country houses of Martina Franca (TA). Built in 1849, it has an elegant and refined architecture, both externally and internally, similar to that of a city palace. Even in the most recent renovations the originality of the architecture of a noble farm of the mid-1800s has been maintained. The farm retains all the original furnishings. Over time, it has maintained its centuries-old destination as a stately home and farm and livestock, now at the forefront.
The house is surrounded by twenty trulli, dating back to the 18th century. Some were the ancient dwelling of the “massaro” (farmer), others preserved the original destination of shelter for animals and for fodder. In addition, there is a vast gravine and a cave, once a refuge for brigands. From the house, placed at an height of about 420m, the view stretches from the Ionian Sea to the Pollino Mountains in Calabria.
