Famous worldwide for its production of artistic ceramics, Vietri sul Mare is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. An Etruscan city that developed between the 7th and 6th centuries B.C.E., it was occupied by the Samnites, the Lucans and the Romans.
Vietri sul Mare is one of the most panoramic approaches to the adjacent city of Salerno. The bright colours of the architectural cladding of the dome of the Church of St. John the Baptist and the Palazzo della Ceramica Solimene immediately catch the visitor’s eye.
The symbol of Vietri are the two rocks known as the Two Brothers, which can be seen from the long strip of beach which includes lidos like the Crestarella, with a 16th century tower, the Bagnara, Marina d’Albori, Acqua del Fico and Fluenti.
