Mount Imperina is located in Rivamonte Agordino (Belluno), in the south-eastern part of the Conca Agordina.
The area, characterized by a dense vegetation of firs and larch trees, has been very important over the centuries for the extraction of copper; an activity – which continued until the 1960s – showcased at the Valle Imperina Mining Centre. This is one of the most important sites in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. The "Uomini della Valle Imperina" visitor centre is housed in an elegant building originally a hydroelectric plant that served the mines, where a permanent exhibition is dedicated to mining and the men of the valley. The building for the smelting furnaces, an interesting example of industrial archaeology, is nearby, along with a hostel, housed in an 18th century former warehouse which was also used later as a dormitory for miners.
The area offers two historical-cultural itineraries: "The way of the hospices" which develops on medieval inspiration along the Cordevole river and reaches the Certosa di Vedana; and "The forgotten mountain", a route of about 40 km between Forcella Moschesin and the former mercury mines of Vallalta.
