The town of Affile (RM) stands on a hill of tuff rock 684m above sea level. The municipality includes a plateau and many waterways. The humid climate favours the cultivation of the vine that produces Cesanese, a red wine whose sweet variety is particularly appreciated. The area, inhabited by the Equi tribes and later colonized by the Romans, conserves traces of its past in several Latin and Italic artefacts, in the polygonal Roman walls, the engraving on the bell tower of the Church of St. Peter, the marble markers and the Roman cistern. The local economy is based mostly on agricultural and pastoral activities and tourism.
