The borgo of Apricale is located in the hinterland of Bordighera (IM), just kilometres from the Riviera di Ponente. The Maritime Alps provide the background to the little village built entirely in stone, perched on a hill and encircled by green olive groves.
Standing on the little stone alleyways (the Ligurian carrugi) of the village are the main square, piazza Torracca, the Lizard Castle and the Church of the Purification of the Virgin Mary, a building which represents a range of architectural styles and ages, including a contemporary bicycle installation by Sergio Bianco, entitled La forza della non gravità, which is posted on the bell tower.
