Most of the portion of the game set in Italy takes place in indoor settings in Rome (villas and hotels) with no landscape features that can be attributed to the city: the mission in the Museum of Art is set in a neoclassic context reminiscent of the rooms in the Vatican Museums (in Vatican City). The only mission that takes place in an outdoor setting catapults the user into the ruins of a building from ancient Rome: there’s no faithful reconstruction of any one real place, but features like Doric and Ionian columns and cobblestones are reminiscent of the Imperial Fora and the Palatine archaeological area.

RPG / Action
The player assumes control of Michael Thorton, a secret agent at Alpha Protocol. Michael finds himself mixed up in an international conspiracy and goes on the run. Inspired by 007-style spy stories, the game boasts a rich plot and narrative that gives the user total freedom to choose which missions to carry out.
