Where it was filmed 'Black Souls'

Luigi, an international drug trafficker, is in the Netherlands wrapping up a deal before heading back to Milan, where his brother Rocco lives his life as a wealthy businessman thanks to the illegal trafficking activities of the former. Luciano has stayed behind in Locride, where he takes care of goats and the dead. His son Leo doesn’t deal with insults too well and, before running to his favourite uncle in Milan, threatens a bar protected by a rival clan with the help of a friend who’s out grazing his goats on the beach of Bianco (RC). This incident leads to the whole family reuniting in their hometown, Africo (RC), the ruins of which, in Africo Vecchio on the slopes of the Aspromonte massif, were used to represent an age-old Calabria with its winding and arduous paths, those tread by the protagonists in this ‘Greek’ tragedy.

Plot

Three brothers, the sons of shepherds with ties to the ‘ndrangheta, have all taken apparently different paths in life: Luigi is an international drug trafficker, Rocco lives in Milan and is a businessman who launders the dirty money of the former, and Luciano has stayed behind in Calabria to be a shepherd, deluding himself that he’s managed to keep out of the business dealings of his brothers. The three are reunited in their hometown in the Aspromonte massif when an act of bravado by the 20-year-old son of Luciano re-ignites a war that has been simmering since the three brothers assassinated their father.
