Tommaso is a heart surgeon, a man as esteemed as he is cold, who lives with his family in a luxurious apartment in Rome with a view over Castel Sant’Angelo. His son’s sudden decision to enter the priesthood takes him to meet Don Pietro, who he believes ‘indoctrinated’ Andrea with his sermons at the auditorium identified as the Opera Nazionale per le Città dei Ragazzi, in the La Pisana-Ponte Galeria area west of Rome.
The meeting with Don Pietro has an effect on Tommaso who begins to question his beliefs about the existence of God. Sitting on a hillside, near Lake Martignano, the two men look for him in the surrounding countryside.
