Newly-weds Ivan (Leopoldo Trieste) and Wanda (Brunella Bovo) are in Rome for their honeymoon: the hotel they stay in is actually the Biblioteca Hertziana in via Gregoriana. However, while Ivan is outlining the minute by minute programme of their days, Wanda has different plans: she can’t bear to waste an opportunity to meet her hero, the White Sheik (Alberto Sordi), who she has arranged to meet in via XXIV Maggio, a ten-minute walk from their hotel. The publishing office that she walks into is actually only a few minutes’ walk away in Palazzo Barberini, via delle Quattro Fontane. When Ivan finds that Wanda is not in their rom, he leaves to look for her desperately asking for directions in piazza del Quirinale, but has to come to terms with the fact that his wife has vanished. To hide her disappearance from the relatives anxious to meet her, he pretends that she is unwell and goes to the various appointments alone: lunch in piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere and concert at Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti in Spoleto (PG). In the meantime, Wanda has made her way to the beach of Fregene where she takes part in the shooting of the photo-novel. Returning to town, overcome with shame for having considered adultery she makes a clumsy suicide attempt under Ponte Sant’Angelo as the marble angels protecting the bridge watch from above. The ending is set in piazza San Pietro.
