Shooting for the film took place in locations all over Italy, from North to South. The opening scene takes place in piazza Duomo in Trento: David is pretending to be a waiter in a bar in order to infiltrate the offices of a publishing house.
Trento is the city that David lives in with his partner, works and tries to give form to his ambitions before his encounter with Marcello in Rome, during the launch of Ciao Dream. We see the pair walking along the Tiber embankment, with Castel Sant’Angelo and the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in the background, a stroll which foreshadows David’s loss of the product launch, as well as his job and girlfriend.
On the coasts of Sabaudia, Marcello waits for David, who decides to stay with him and follow him to Trani in Apulia.
The production team chose lots of places in Salento to shoot the scenes set in Apulia: from Marina di Melendugno to Santa Maria di Leuca as well as the town of Trani, the port of which lies at the centre of the fake set built to give us a feel for the town. Unmistakeable is the Moorish style of Villa Sticchi, one of the most characteristic buildings in Santa Cesarea Terme in Salento, where the two protagonists choose to stay.
Finally we return to Trento, where the great scam organised by the two men, now accomplices, takes place. The film then comes full circle to end in the same way it began. David has convinced the publishers to publish his story and is waiting for him on a bench in the Gardens of Piazza Venezia to sign the contract and collect the agreed-on sum.

David is at an important turning point in his professional career thanks to the launch of a revolutionary product which he is promoting, but his encounter with Marcello, a deft swindler, derails everything and changes his life forever.
