Corrado’s story and his attempt to combat illegal immigration involves a number of different locations. First off there’s the Veneto, where filming took place in Padua, of which a number of streets in the city are visible, the famous eliptical Piazza Prato della Valle and the Comini Gym, reaching right out to the neighbouring municipality of Selvazzano Dentro (PD).
Then there are glimpses of Venice, with its the historic centre and the Grand Canal, and shots of Rome. A number of scenes were instead set in Sicily, and more specifically Mazara del Vallo, Campobello di Mazara, Castelvetrano, Balestrate and Alcamo.

Corrado, a high-ranking official at the Italian Ministry of the Interior specialised in international missions to combat illegal immigration, is chosen by the Italian government to tackle the complex problem of illegal crossings from Libya to Italy. During the mission he meets Swada, a Somali woman who is looking to escape imprisonment in Libya and to cross the ocean to get to her husband in Europe. How can you marry State law with the human instinct to help someone in trouble? Corrado tries to find an answer to this in his private life, but his crisis becomes increasingly intense and dangerously creeps into the order of things.
