The series follows Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), an acclaimed journalist who has built her reputation by exposing the wrongdoings and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel by an unknown author, she is horrified to realize that she is the protagonist of the story that lays bare her darkest secrets.
As Catherine races against time to discover the writer's true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon.
Shot in Tuscany in September 2022, locations include Pisa, in particular piazza dei Miracoli and the interior of the leaning tower; Viareggio, mainly on the seafront; and Forte dei Marmi, in Versilia. Other locations in Italy include Venice and Rome.
