The fighters face off in various rings to take home the title of tournament champion. The success of the game was mostly down to the depth of gameplay and the lifelike movements and techniques of the characters. The fights take place against a number of real life backdrops, including the Acropolis, Monument Valley, the Fiji Islands, and Venice. Another Italian setting, Rome, appears in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
