The Venice that provides the backdrop for the adventure has been recreated altogether rather faithfully here: the locations and period costumes have been reproduced particularly accurately. Among the many places featured are the Caffé Florian, a lavish café frequented by the aristocracy, Palazzo Grimani, the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square. That said, some creative liberties have been taken: for example, the curious presence of flying gondolas and ships.

In this adventure game developed by Arxel Tribe we follow the movements of Giacomo Casanova, a character strongly inspired by the adventurer and ladies’ man of the same name. In this game, Casanova must avenge the death of his mother, and in doing so unravels the mysteries of Venice. The game offers the player notable freedom of action as they make their way through the streets of the city. Each player can play the adventure at their own pace, deciding whether to spend more time on solving the mysteries or on duelling with swordsmen. The game also allows the player to seduce the noblewomen living in Venice, to boost Casanova’s fame as a ladies’ man.
