Where it was filmed 'Marriage Italian Style'

The title sequence, in a sweeping shot from the lungomare in Naples to the city’s piazza del Plebiscito firmly sets the scene for the film. The main location is piazza del Gesù Nuovo, dominated by the obelisk dell’Immacolata at its centre and the unmistakeable rusticated ashlar facade of the Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo. Overlooking the square is Domenico’s home (Marcello Mastroianni), Palazzo Pandola, recognisable by its elegant inner courtyard and the balconied entrance arch of the facade.

The historical centre features in the film with piazza Bellini, dominated by the complex of Sant'Antonio delle Monache a Port'Alba and via San Carlo. The Chiesa dello Spirito Santo e Nostra Signora di Fatima in Fuorigrotta appears in the background of several conversations between the main characters as they attempt to understand each other. The pastry shop Soriano is located near Castel Nuovo. Domenico and Filumena (Sophia Loren) relax on the grass in Torre del Greco after leaving the racecourse in Agnano. Many of the interior settings were built at the Titanus Studios in Rome.
