In the opening credits, a woman on a motorbike asks for directions at a petrol station in the countryside of Altamura (BA) and stops at Laura’s laundry in the Giulianello neighbourhood of Gravina in Puglia (BA). Inspired by her unknown visitor’s independence, Laura catches a train although she descends immediately as she is travelling without a ticket: when Altamura Scalo is announced, it is actually the station of Venusio, a hamlet of Matera. Here Laura meets Miele again and the two women set off together. Before getting to Matera, Miele boastfully shows off her motorcycling skills to Laura: for a moment, no longer in Basilicata but Lazio, in the Corvaro area, a neighbourhood of Borgorose (RI). This is followed by a police chase and their arrival in Matera where the women stop for a drink at a typical trattoria. Back in the saddle not long after, we are offered many views of the Lucan town, including piazza San Pietro Caveoso, dominated by its church. Their journey continues… into the countryside of Rieti! When the bike veers off the road, the women are actually near Borgo San Pietro, a hamlet of Petrella Salto. The motorbike sinks into Lago del Salto, and the bridge where they try to hitch a lift is also on the lake, in the Fiumata hamlet of Petrella. Without transport but undaunted, the women attempt to steal a car, which turns out to contain a surprise that necessitates its return: the owner’s villa is in Rignano Flaminio (RM).
The first stop on the journey is Naples, Laura has told her new friend that she has a cousin there. They search for her in via San Biagio dei Librai and via San Gregorio Armeno, and in the meantime they bump into a “guappo” (a flashy Neapolitan ne’er-do-well), an old lady who gives them an amulet, and try to straighten up before meeting the cousin. On Molo Angioino, Laura tells Miele that she invented the cousin. After an argument, Miele heads off into a labyrinth of alleyways that spread out from piazza del Mercato, with the Church of Santa Croce e Purgatorio al Mercato in its centre. During the journey up North, the women split up near Ravenna but the city where Miele has an unmissable appointment is actually Ostia Lido.
