The series was shot mostly in the Lumiq Studios of the RAI production centre in Turin where the main location - the bunker - was built. The series also used several locations in the city of Turin, including the ex-Carcere Le Nuove, Parco Dora, Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the market of Porta Palazzo. Another setting was provided by Villaggio Leumann, a complex of small, Art Deco style houses near Corso Francia, in the municipality of Collegno just outside the city: at night here people pop out of manholes when they need to get around. In Finale Ligure (SV), facing the sea, the rats come out into the open for one of the rare scenes shot in daylight.
