Despite the wide range of characters created by Capcom over the years, there are a limited number of Italian fighters. In Street Fighter EX2 Plus we are introduced to Vulcano Rosso, who comes from an unspecified area in the Mediterranean and whose aim is to avenge his murdered wife. His special moves take the names of famous Italian locations: Etna, Vesuvius, Canossa, Bridge of Sighs and Leaning Tower. The character returns in Street Fighter EX3. The Street Fighter Alpha series, which was created in the wake of the success of the anime dedicated to the saga, instead features Rose, a Genovese fortune teller. The stages on which the player can face her are: a reproduction of the inside of the Colosseum (Street Fighter Alpha), the port of Genoa (Street Fighter Alpha 2) and her fictitious Italian residence, Palazzo Mistero (Street Fighter Alpha 3). Worth mentioning is that the port of Genoa seems to be modelled on Venice (note the presence of gondolas).

Street Fighter is a famous arcade fighter game that made its debut in 1987. The second instalment, with its many revivals, contributed significantly to establishing the rules of the genre, introducing the possibility of choosing your own fighter, each gifted with special exclusive moves, and of challenging other players as well as the CPU. In the EX series, and above all in Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V, the saga abandoned its 2D graphics whilst still maintaining its cartoon style.
