After marrying shy Fosca (Veronica Pivetti) in the Church of St. Catherine of Siena, in via Giulia in Rome (recognisable by its interiors), Raniero (Carlo Verdone) takes his young bride to visit his first wife Scilla, buried in the Non-Catholic Cemetery by Pyramid Cestia. They are headed for the Hotel Danieli in riva degli Schiavoni, Venice, but Fosca begins to have doubts which Raniero mistakenly interprets as the symptoms of an illness. He stops to consult a doctor friend in Bologna whose studio is in via Clavature (Palazzo d’Accursio, in piazza Maggiore can be seen in the shot); and later for a CAT scan in Padua (the imposing outline of the Basilica of St. Anthony appears in the taxi scene). The gondola taking them to the hotel in Venice glides along the Rio di San Severo where the professor enjoys photographing picturesque sights, dismissing his wife’s suggestion to photograph piazza San Marco and the Basilica as banal. Raniero and the stretcher bearers carry Fosca’s coffin from a hospital, actually Palazzo Ca' Zenobio degli Armeni in Dorsoduro, Venice
Ivano (Verdone) and Jessica (Claudia Gerini) celebrate their unusual wedding ceremony at the Church of St. Joseph Cottolengo in viale Valle Aurelia, Rome and continue the celebrations at restaurant Paradiso Terrestre in via di Capannelle. Then their honeymoon begins: first at Aquapiper water park in Guidonia (RM) where they try to “do it” underwater, then they go to Florence. From the terrace of their hotel on lungarno Guicciardini, faced with the stunning display of bountiful Renaissance beauty, Ivano tries to pick out the stadium. Jessica and Ivano argue about his “performance” (“that never happened to you before”) on a bridge in Forte dei Marmi (LU) and decide to start dating as if they were strangers again to add some spice to their routine. On their return to Rome the newly-weds, already bored, go to live in a building in Eur.
The third couple, Giovannino (Verdone) and Valeriana (Cinzia Mascoli), marry in the Church of Saints Ippolito and Lucia in via Casale di Santa Lucia, Fiumicino, and head off to the Port of Genoa for their honeymoon. However, a series of unexpected family crises prevents the young couple from enjoying their journey. Giovannino who has problems with his father asks for help from his brother who works in a post office in via Marmorata in Rome and from his sister who has a shop in via San Giacomo. Valeriana is also having trouble with her sister who lives in the “Le Petunie” Residence, actually Pamphili Park residence in via Cardinale Domenico Ferrata, Rome.

Three sets of newlyweds set off on honeymoon: Professor Raniero Cotti Borroni, a renowned medical expert married to the young, delicate Fosca; goodhearted Giovannino and his long-term girlfriend Valeriana; and uncouth Ivano with his doppelganger, Jessica.
