Locations

The protagonist’s adventure begins in Herculaneum, during the eruption of Vesuvius. If you survive, you are taken to Rome, where your rise to power can begin. The settings reproduce architecture from Imperial Rome (including the unavoidable Colosseum). Although the eruption of Vesuvius is historical fact, the game mentions a fictitious Emperor Gluteus Maximus (in 92 AD, Titus Flavius Domitian was emperor of Rome). In the backgrounds to the map on which the action takes place we see Caravaggio’s piece Young Sick Bacchus.

Plot: An adventure game with strategic elements that sees the player rise through the ranks of Roman society, from slave to emperor. The game is made up of six different levels covering Italian settings, Britannia and Egypt. Also known by the title of Rome: AD 92 in Europe. The game is structured in a similar way to Centurion: Defender of Rome (Electronic Arts, 1991), which is also set in Imperial Rome.
