Filming took place in Latina, Sabaudia and Rome. The apartment where the cynical Geremia lives with his mother is in a building in Via Filippo Corridoni in Latina. In the scene in which he accompanies his victim and bride, young Rosalba, we see Piazza del Popolo, which stands out with its rigid fascist-era architecture and is home to the town hall of Latina, with its imposing Municipal Tower. Also in Latina is the Church of Santa Rita in Viale Guido Rossa, which provides the backdrop for the funeral of Rosalba’s mother. Locations in Sabaudia that are featured in the film instead include the Church of the Santissima Annunziata in Piazza Regina Margherita, which Geremia searches thoroughly, and of course Lake Caprolace on the coast of the Circeo National Park, where the mix of salt water and fresh water from the marshlands attracts different species of birds: ducks, coots, cormorants, herons, egrets, rare flamingos and white storks.
In Rome, the eternal city, in a building in Piazza del Colosseo, is Caruso, Geremia’s father’s apartment, from the windows of which we see the Colosseum in all its majestic glory.
