Where it was filmed 'Il professor Cenerentolo'

Leonardo Pieraccioni took his crew and cast to the Pontine archipelago for the film. The natural landscapes and several areas in the residential centre immediately identify the main location of the film as the Island of Ventotene. Island locations also included the ruins of the Imperial residence of Villa Giulia at Punta Eolo. Umberto is serving his sentence in the prison of Ventotene, the imposing and disused 18th century Bourbon Prison of Santo Stefano on the small islet of the same name, 2km east of Ventotene.

The town of Gaeta (LT) provided ancient alleyways overlooking the Gulf, and the Angevin-Aragonese Castle in the background. The scene of the bank robbery, and explosion, was set near corso Cavour. Meanwhile, in nearby Formia, the production shot in the little harbour of Caposele in the extended archaeological area of Caposele.

Intending to retrieve Morgana’s necklace, the group heads to the middleman’s villa at Scandicci, actually Castello Scandeluzza in Rome. Many of the interiors were built in Rome’s Cinecittà Studios.
