Finally Dawn, from the director of My Brilliant Friend Saverio Costanzo, is set in the 1950s during the heyday of “Hollywood on the Tiber” and tells the story of an aspiring actress (Rebecca Antonaci) who spends a memorable night at the Cinecittà Studios which will mark her maturation to womanhood. Engaged to a man that her family likes more than she loves, she goes to Cinecittà to audition as an extra, only to get caught up in events around a group of American actors shooting a film set in Ancient Egypt.
Young Italian actress Rebecca Antonaci stars alongside an international cast which includes Lily James as a neurotic Hollywood star, Josephine, at a key moment of her career; Joe Keery as an up-and-coming actor; Willem Dafoe as an American gallery owner; and Rachel Sennott as an Egyptian queen.
Most of the film was shot at Cinecittà, where several outdoor sets were created, with scenes also shot in the centre of Rome, in piazza di Spagna, and Villa dei Quintili.
