I migliori giorni is an episodic comedy, directed by Massimiliano Bruno and Edoardo Leo, that uses irony and bitterness to laugh and reflect on humankind, even re-evaluating holidays. It tells the story of characters who celebrate holidays – in theory the best days of the year – where things do not go as planned. The episodes were shot in Rome.
The first episode, La Vigilia, features the traditional ritual of a Christmas Eve family dinner at the house of Stefania, a politically correct politician. The guests include Attilio, the chairman of her party who could make a huge difference to her political career, and her two brothers: Luca, an anti-vaxxer nightclub manager, and Alessandro, a mediocre and hypochondriacal actor. When the conversation turns to Covid and vaccines, the situation gets close to disaster. Main actors: Edoardo Leo, Massimiliano Bruno, Anna Foglietta.
Capodanno is the second episode. To repair his reputation, Bruno (Max Tortora), an unscrupulous wealthy businessman, works alongside his wife and daughter at the New Year’s Eve dinner in a soup kitchen but he is furious to discover that his secretary has mistakenly sent the gathering parcels stuffed with delicacies he had intended for the Industry President and various members of parliament, while they received supermarket lentils and pigs’ trotters. To complicate matters, his former chauffeur Alberto (Paolo Calabresi) – who having been unfairly fired, he went bankrupt, was left by his wife and became homeless – appears, intent on revenge.
In San Valentino, Gianni takes his wife Sonia, the charming CEO of a large company, out to dinner. His mistress, Clarissa, is fed up with having to spend the evening alone although she has her own lover, Daniela, also fed up of being a spare wheel. What begins as an ordinary dinner builds to an eventful evening. The four main characters are played by: Luca Argentero, Valentina Lodovini, Greta Scarano, Maria Chiara Centorami.
The fourth episode, 8 marzo, features Margherita, a famous TV host who decides to pay homage to women on International Women’s Day in her show La nostra Italia. When she gets to work however, she discovers that she will be forced to open the show with an apology, taking responsibility for a reportage on the “perfect woman” from the day before which has sparked protest on social media. Margherita refuses, the report was greenlit at a meeting she was not present for. The episodes stars: Claudia Gerini, Stefano Fresi.
