The exterior shots show the city without its usual chaos: scenes were shot in the botanical gardens of Rome, with its bamboo forest, near the fishing village of Ostia where Pietro's brother restores his boat, and in the Appia Antica archaeological park, where Eleonora and her husband meet to talk.
