An Endless Sunday is the first feature-length film from Alain Parroni, winner of the Orizzonti Special Jury Prize and the Fipresci Prize of the International Federation of Film Critics at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
The film takes a clear-eyed look at the kids of Generation Z, focussing on 3 protagonists: Alex, Brenda and Kevin. Alex has just turned 19, Brenda is pregnant and Kevin scrawls his name all over the town: they are each trying to leave their mark on the world. A chain of situations, paradoxes and characters alternate with each other in a narrative construction similar to an unconventional coming of age novel.
Alex, Brenda and Kevin’s individual experiences are not a random sequence of adventures but rather the steps on a ladder of the process of orientation, growth and maturation. Their romantic adventures and search for independence are pivotal in situations where Kevin and Brenda, acting on impulse, become entangled, catalysing a gradual progress that unfolds to the chant of Alex's "I exist".
Constantly interconnected, the three friends hang out between Rome and the coast, trying to push back at the inexorable advance of time and heat as much as they can. The film was shot in locations in the capital, and in the municipalities of Ardea, Aprilia, Civitavecchia and Pomezia.
