Swept into this climate of renewal, the Borghetti family moves into a top floor apartment with a panoramic view of the city. Inside their new house, however, they have to deal with a shattered marriage and events related to the development of their three children.
The crew also shot in Tuscany, near Ansedonia, in the Orbetello lagoon and on the island of Giglio where several holiday scenes were set in the transparent waters of cala dell’Allume, cala del Morto and cala Molella.

Rome, 1970s: a world balanced between neighbourhoods under construction, black and white tv shows, and outdated social achievements and family models. Clara and Felice have just moved into a new apartment. Their marriage is over: they no longer love each other but they can’t break up. Only their children, on whom Clara pours all her desire for freedom, keep them together. Adriana, the eldest, who has just turned 12 is the most attentive witness to her mother’s moods and the growing tensions between her parents. Intent on convincing everyone that she is a boy, Adriana rejects her name and identity, and her obstinacy brings the already fragile family balance to breaking point. While the children are waiting for a sign to guide them – whether a voice from above or a song on the tv – everything changes, both around and inside them.
